Right fit? Judge me? Myths busted.
The questions everyone has, answered straight. No corporate-speak. If you don't see yours, just ask.
Getting started · what to expect
Fill out our 2-minute "Get matched" form. A real coordinator (not AI) reviews it within one business day, picks the therapist on our team who fits best, and emails you with their name, bio, and a link to book your first session.
Most new clients have a first session within 5–7 days. Some specialty pairings (couples, EMDR with a specific clinician) can take a touch longer — we'll always tell you upfront if that's the case.
You don't have to — most clients prefer letting us match. But you absolutely can. Browse our team page and request someone specific in the form. Either way works.
Tell our coordinator. We'll re-match you at no cost — usually within a few days. Fit is too important to fake.
Insurance & cost
We're in-network with Aetna, BCBS Horizon, Cigna, United Healthcare/Optum, Oscar, Anthem, Magellan, Beacon, and most major commercial NJ plans. We can also bill many EAP programs. We don't currently accept Medicaid or Medicare. We'll verify your benefits before your first session and tell you exactly what you'll owe.
Many plans offer out-of-network reimbursement. We provide superbills (itemized receipts) you can submit. We also offer a sliding-scale rate for clients between coverage gaps — ask us.
If you're in-network, your cost is a copay (typically $20–$60) or your deductible until met. Self-pay rates are $185 per 53-min individual session, $215 for couples or family sessions. Sliding scale starts at $95.
Yes. We have a limited number of sliding-scale spots reserved for clients facing financial hardship. Mention it on your intake form and we'll find an option that works.
24 hours' notice, otherwise the session fee applies (insurance does not cover late cancels). Life happens — we don't charge for genuine emergencies.
Will they judge me? · Myths busted
The most common reasons people put off booking — gently corrected.
Therapy isn't a last resort. People come in for everyday stuff: burnout, decision-making, identity, parenting, communication, friendships. You don't need a crisis to deserve support.
Nope. Our therapists have heard everything, twice. The whole point is a space where you don't have to perform — just show up exactly as you are.
It's whatever you want it to be. Some clients work through a specific issue in 8–12 sessions. Others stay weekly for years because they like the maintenance. There's no "right" length.
Maybe. Crying is fine. Laughing is also fine — most sessions have both. Your therapist follows your pace.
Sessions & logistics
Both. Most therapists offer either format and you can switch week-to-week. Telehealth is via a secure HIPAA-compliant video link — no app to download.
53 minutes for individual, 60 minutes for couples and family. Initial intake is sometimes a touch longer. We'll tell you upfront.
Usually weekly to start, then biweekly once things stabilize. Some clients stay weekly throughout — your therapist will collaborate with you on what makes sense.
Yes — with the limits required by NJ law (imminent risk to self or others, abuse of a child or vulnerable adult, court orders). We'll walk through this in your first session.
Not at this time — we're a therapy-focused practice. We can refer you to trusted psychiatric providers in NJ if medication is something to explore.
Only with your written permission. Coordination of care can be helpful — but it's always your call.
Kids, teens & couples
Ages 5 and up. We have specific clinicians who specialize in kids 5–12, teens 13–17, and adults.
Sometimes yes, sometimes no — depends on the kid, the goals, and the moment. We loop you in regularly and offer parent coaching alongside.
Yes — it's a shared process. If one partner isn't ready, individual therapy is often a better starting point.
